The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad (Postgraduate Studies Division) organized a workshop titled “Scientific Research Critique,” delivered by Prof. Ahmed Farhan Al-Tamimi, a specialist in scientific research.
The workshop addressed key steps and academic methods for critiquing research and studies, starting with evaluating the title and problem formulation, then examining methodology, data collection and analysis procedures, and finally assessing results and conclusions. It also highlighted research ethics and the importance of objectivity, neutrality, and scientific accuracy in the critique process.
The workshop aimed to enhance students’ ability to analyze and evaluate scientific studies by introducing the foundations and standards of academic critique, strengthening their capacity to identify strengths and weaknesses in published research, and promoting critical thinking to improve the quality of academic outputs.
The session concluded with an open discussion in which students raised questions and shared insights on applying critique methods in their own research and theses. Aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education.
